Roommates we hope that you are safe and well. I guess an apology is due to those of you who have been scouring our website and social pages for news on the band as we really haven’t been that great on telling you what’s been going on behind the closed doors of lockdown.
I think it’s fair to say that we were absolutely gutted not to be playing the two shows with Rick Wakeman back in March last year. These would have been without a doubt the most prestigious of our journey together. We started preparing for these with GLD keys player, Piers, but as they were cancelled we pushed on with the search for a full time organist. The search was successful and in the autumn we welcomed the genius that is Chris Teeder to the band. Not only does he possess great keyboard and comedy skills he also has the regimental haircut!
We raised donations totalling a stunning £850 from the release of the Live version of Screaming Through The Noise. The money was raised for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in the memory of Martins son Joshua who sadly passed away a few months ago. We are deeply humbled at the level of your generosity. If you didn’t get a chance to buy the track well I am sorry but it was only available for a limited time.
If you are looking for other Room related music, then I would check out Chris York, Steve Anderson and the very busy Eric Bouillette’s Facebook pages as you will find some fabulous new music and some tunes you may recognise.
Looking to the future, well, we are bursting to get back together. A band is just like a really close family and we haven’t seen each other for 6 months. We hope that we may be able to spend some time trying to remember what we do in a rehearsal studio in a few months’ time.
We currently have a few shows in the diary and have our fingers crossed that these can go ahead. Everything of course still depends on the governments “tests” to confirm the roadmap out of the restrictions.
We are so excited at the prospect of playing live again and hope to see you at one of the shows. Check out the links on our “Live” page.
Thank you for your continued support
Martin, Andy, Steve, Chris, Eric and Chris
